Why Bermuda?
By now, we hope you know that Paradise Mobile’s new, next-gen cell phone service is going to be unrivalled in Bermuda (did we mention that it’s ridiculously fast?).
But we’re setting our sights even higher than that. We’re not just trying to be the best cell phone service in Bermuda. We want to create a technology hub which will draw the best and brightest innovators from around the world to the island – and empower those already lucky enough to live here.
One of the questions we get asked most often is: why Bermuda?
And our answer? Because we believe Bermuda can be the Silicon Valley of the Atlantic. OK, it’s a strange image - a valley, in the sea - but bear with us.
Bermuda’s demographics and population density mean that, despite the cute cottages and the hibiscus hedges, it’s comparable, in many ways, to a modern metropolitan city.
For innovators trying to develop the next big thing, this is exciting. You’ve got a sophisticated society, confined to a small (beautiful!) space, ring-fenced by nature: a closed system with its own independent infrastructure. Isolated - but not too isolated. The perfect sandbox for trialling new apps and technology.
Sadly, despite that sophistication, and Bermuda’s close ties to North America and the UK, there is a surprising amount of digital disparity here - and a lack of digital infrastructure. Which is why ‘unlimited’ data plans are such a recent development.
Paradise Mobile aims to change that. Bridge the digital divide so that Bermuda can sprint into the 21st century… and beyond.
Need any more reasons? How about this: Bermuda is an incredible place to live. With its clear waters, pink beaches and temperate weather, many residents of the other Silicon Valley would envy our lifestyle. The cost of living might be high - alright, it’s shocking - but the standard of living is high, too. And the people? Well, look around you.
