Vision Versus Legacy

Vision Versus Legacy

Wireless networks have been a thing for almost a quarter of a century now, and over that time, they have evolved immensely. Gone the way of the dodo (thankfully) are bulky modems and routers, along with brain-numbing buffering times for video content.

However, many of today’s network companies are still building on the decades of legacy hardware and software which now seem so out of date: effectively bolting shiny new superstructures onto doddery foundations.

Paradise Mobile prides itself on being a ‘greenfield operator’ – which is a not very sexy way of saying that we’re building our entire network from scratch. The alternative is the even less sexy ‘brownfield’, which is how we describe these sluggish older communications companies.

That’s not to say, of course, that we can’t learn from these legacy companies. Many of them have walked the path so that we can now sprint along it. We can recognise (and emulate) their successes - while avoiding their mistakes.

Building from scratch, though, is at the core of our identity. We are taking these decades of learning and coming up with a better solution. We’ve realised that we can be completely software based, which means we can scale up and down, depending on demand, without having to come offline at any point for updates. And if there is ever a hardware issue, it can be dealt with without interrupting your service.

Every aspect of our system is new: from the antenna down to the user interface capabilities. We are not tethered to any out-of-date technology, processes or ways of thinking. Our only limit is our imagination.

This mentality is echoed throughout our company structure, too. We operate with a flat hierarchy, which means that Paradise Mobile’s team shares responsibility across all sectors of the business, exchanging ideas freely and encouraging creative solutions. This means no passing the buck or playing phone tag with different departments if you have an issue. Out with the old - in with the new!
